2. Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account or sign in, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (if you provide one)
- Password (stored by Firebase Authentication in hashed form; we do not see or store your raw password)
- Email verification status
Premium and trial information
If you use premium features, we may store:
- Whether you have used the account free trial
- Active or past trial details (effect chosen, start and end time)
- Premium access or purchase-related flags associated with your account (when applicable)
Extension preferences
We store settings you choose in the Extension, such as:
- Selected effect
- Amount, speed, trigger mode, and related overlay preferences
- Whether the overlay is enabled
Technical / session data
To keep you signed in, the Extension stores session tokens and a small local copy of your signed-in status on your device (Chrome storage).
3. Information we do not collect
We do not collect or store:
- Your browsing history
- The content of the pages you visit
- A list of other open tabs or their URLs
- Precise location
- Contacts, photos, or microphone/camera data
The Extension may briefly interact with the page you are viewing only to display the animation overlay. That interaction is not saved as browsing history.
4. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the Extension
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate sign-in and keep your session active
- Offer and manage the free trial and premium access
- Sync your overlay preferences on your Chrome profile (where Chrome sync applies)
- Improve reliability and support (for example, responding to account or trial requests)
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Where information is stored
| Data | Where it is stored |
|---|---|
| Account credentials & identity | Firebase Authentication |
| Profile, trial, and premium entitlement data | Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase project for Magic Website Effect) |
| Login session tokens | Chrome local storage on your device |
| Overlay preferences & cached access flags | Chrome sync/local storage on your device |
Our cloud services are provided by Google Firebase / Google Cloud.
6. Permissions and host access
The Extension requests certain Chrome permissions so it can:
- Save preferences and session data (
storage) - Control the overlay on the current tab (
activeTab/tabs) - Run the overlay on webpages you visit (content scripts)
Host permissions are used only to communicate securely with our backend services (for example, Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Cloud Functions) for account, catalog, and trial features. They are not used to scrape or store the websites you browse.
7. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share data only with:
- Service providers that power the Extension (notably Google Firebase / Google Cloud), under their terms and security controls
- Authorities if required by law
Account-related emails (for example, verification, password reset, or trial-request confirmations) may be sent using our configured email delivery service.
8. Data retention
- Account and entitlement data are kept while your account exists and as needed to provide the service.
- Local session and preference data remain on your device until you clear Extension data, uninstall the Extension, or sign out (session tokens).
- You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us (see below).
9. Your choices
You can:
- Use many free effects without creating an account
- Sign out at any time
- Uninstall the Extension to remove it from your browser
- Request access to or deletion of your account information by emailing us
10. Children’s privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International users
Your information may be processed on servers operated by Google in locations outside your country. By using the Extension, you understand that your information may be transferred to and stored in those locations.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
